PADI Perth Self Reliant Diver

Solo Diver

The Solo  Diver Course lets you identify and develop self-reliance and independence while diving.  This course is great to develop the skills of planning and carrying out dives without a partner when preferred or necessary, and to sharpen skills of diving solo, which in addition also  makes you stronger in a dive pair or team.


The Solo Diver course teaches you:


  • The value and application of the buddy system.
  • The philosophy of, and motivation for, diving without a partner.
  • Potential risks of diving alone, and how to manage those risks.
  • The value of equipment redundancy, and  what backup equipment is needed.
  • Dive planning and gas management.


Solo  Diver Course Content:


  • One Day Course
  • Includes on-line learning, 2 dives, (2 shore dives) of which are classed as training dives.
  • You’ll learn about Self Rescue, what equipment is required, how to formulate a dive plan, and management of dive emergencies.


Equipment Requirements:


  • Standard Dive Equipment (BCD, Regulator, weights, mask, fins) - Hire Available.
  • Surface marker buoy with at least 30 metres of line - Can be purchased for Scuba Obsession. 
  • Redundant gas source – pony cylinder and regulator. Must be accessible with one hand – Scuba Obsession Supplied. 
  • Redundant depth gauge and bottom timer, or dive computer.
  • Redundant surface signalling devices (Both visual and audible)
  • Knife/Cutting tool - Available for purchase. 
  • Slate & Pencil - Available for purchase.
  • Back up mask - Available for purchase.


What you need to do:


All you need is 100 logged dives and be certified as a Advanced  Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organisation and we will do the rest.
